Residents of Hillsborough County, plan your Thanksgiving week accordingly—county offices and facilities are gearing up for a brief holiday hiatus. Hillsborough County has announced that all administrative offices and several facilities will close their doors next Thursday and Friday to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. A statement released by Hillsborough County confirmed these closures, marking the occasion for county employees to have some well-deserved time off.
When it comes to dealing with leftovers, remember your garbage won't be making its journey to the disposal sites on Thanksgiving Day; they will remain closed, nestled by a warmth of their own cessation. Normal collection for garbage, recyclables, or yard waste will bounce back on Friday for residents in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Solid Waste service area, with customers whose regular trash day falls on Thursday needing to wait until the next regularly scheduled collection day.
While human gatherings might pause to give thanks, all dog parks in the county will keep their gates open on both Thursday and Friday, offering a haven for our four-legged friends. For enthusiasts of the outdoors, conservation parks and skate parks won't share the same fate—they'll be shuttered on Thanksgiving Day, but will resume their usual bustle starting Friday.
Emergency services, however, take no break. According to the information provided by Hillsborough County, there will be a limited number of Animal Control and Code Enforcement officers on call for emergencies on Thursday. Anyone in need of their immediate assistance should dial the emergency number (813) 744-5660, where help will be ready despite the turkey dinners being served across the county.
Friday brings a return to normalcy, as residents can enjoy the full spectrum of parks including the splash pads from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Carrollwood Village Park from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. For those having to make post-Thanksgiving runs to dispose of waste, don't fret: Hillsborough County's solid waste services will skate back to regular operations. The full suite of disposal sites, from the Southeast County Landfill to community collection centers, will welcome the remnants of the festivities with open arms come Friday morning.
