Houston airports are preparing for increased travelers during the holiday season. From  November 20 through December 1, about 2.1 million people are expected to pass through George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport, with around 1.6 million at IAH and 500,000 at KHOU, according to Click2Houston.

The TSA is still restoring operations at Houston airports after the federal government shutdown. At IAH, Terminal C screening lanes will reopen from 4 a.m. on Wednesday, while Terminal D remains closed. At HOU, fewer screening lanes may cause longer wait times. Travelers are advised to pre-book parking at least 12 hours in advance and expect longer lines at check-in and TSA checkpoints, as reported by KHOU.

"United Airlines customers departing from Terminal C may check bags and complete screening at Terminal C — there is no need to go to Terminal E," as mentioned by Click2Houston. Passengers flying from Terminal D should check bags at Terminal D and go to screening in Terminals A or E. TSA PreCheck and CLEAR are available, but wait times may be longer. Travelers should have boarding passes and ID ready and check Fly2Houston and their airline for updates before going to the airport.
