Houston is preparing for the H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition since 1949. The city expects a large turnout for the event. CW39 reported that this year’s parade will include new floats, such as a large FIFA soccer ball, along with several giant character inflatables.
Spectators will be able to follow the parade from Smith and Lamar as it moves through several downtown streets. This year’s lineup includes a 40-foot H-E-Buddy balloon and a new 50-foot golden dragon balloon making its first appearance, according to Houston Chronicle.
Houston’s Thanksgiving parade involves months of preparation, with balloons and floats carefully put together for the event. “It’s exciting, nerve-wracking, but a lot of work to plan, a lot of months to figure things out. I think the public is going to be happy with a lot of the changes, and just some new things,” said Ricardo Magdaleno, Director of Mayor’s Office Special Events. The parade begins on Thursday morning and covers more than 20 blocks, and admission is free. H-E-B’s Lisa Helfman said, “We love this parade; it kicks off the holiday season in the most joyous way, both with your family and the Houston community, and we’re proud to be supporting it once again,” as per CW39.
