Carrboro residents can volunteer at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park this weekend. The Town of Carrboro Stormwater and Climate Action staff, with support from the New Hope Bird Alliance, are hosting two events to restore the park’s wetland habitat. The activities are intended to support local biodiversity and habitat conservation.
According to the town's announcement, the first event, scheduled for Nov. 15 from 12 to 3 p.m., will focus on removing invasive species that disrupt the native ecosystem. The second event, on Nov. 16 from 12 to 3 p.m., will involve planting native species to support the park’s natural habitat. Both events offer residents a hands-on opportunity to contribute to local environmental conservation and biodiversity.
Volunteers are advised to wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. Gloves, hand tools, and water will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring their own if possible to ensure sufficient supplies for everyone.
