Eduardo De Jesus Pineda Quinonez, a 35-year-old Guatemalan citizen, was sentenced yesterday to 70 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography and indecency with a child. The court imposed 50 years for possession of child pornography and 20 years for indecency with a child, to be served consecutively. Authorities say the case involves material connected to an incident at the Shady Rest trailer park reported by a child last year.

Investigation and digital evidence

According to Fox San Antonio, the investigation began after an 8-year-old reported an incident to the San Antonio Police Department. Detectives traced the allegation to May 27, 2024, at the Shady Rest trailer park, and the case was referred to the Boerne Police Department. Investigators there located a video depicting the child.

A search warrant on Quinonez’s cell phone uncovered additional images, and prosecutors told the court that the video had been shared in a group chat with eight other individuals. Quinonez pleaded guilty to both possession of child pornography and indecency with a child prior to sentencing.

Court hearing and local officials

Judge Kirsten B. Cohoon presided over the hearing in the 451st District Court in Boerne, which is located at 201 East San Antonio Street. The case was handled by local prosecutors, including Assistant District Attorney Andrew Fields, and Kendall County officials, along with an adult probation officer, recommended the sentence.

The Boerne Police Department lists Detective James Vela on its Criminal Investigations Division roster, noting that CID detectives handle felony investigations, which frequently involve digital forensics.

Legal context

Under Texas law, possession of child pornography and indecency with a child are felony offenses that carry lengthy prison terms. Courts must follow specific procedures for handling and sealing evidence depicting child sexual abuse, and convictions can have additional consequences, including potential immigration implications for noncitizens, as per Justia U.S. Law.
