
Kenosha County is set to usher in the holiday season with its third-annual tree lighting event, as announced by County Executive Samantha Kerkman and the Kenosha County Parks. Slated for Saturday, Nov. 29, the ceremony will take place at Petrifying Springs Park, where the community is invited to engage in festive activities throughout the day, starting with the Petrifying Springs Biergarten opening at 11 a.m., providing drinks and hot cuisine from local food trucks, according to the Kenosha County website.
The event promises a blend of traditional cheer and environmental mindfulness with free biodegradable ornament decorating and the opportunity for visitors to interact with live reindeer starting at 3 p.m., the official starting time for the tree lighting ceremony, and families are encouraged to participate in free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus between 3 and 6 p.m., a professional photographer will be there to capture the holiday moments for posterity.
Ahead of the main event, County Executive Kerkman told the Kenosha County, expressing she is enthusiastic: “We’re excited to return with what’s quickly become a tradition in Kenosha County. I look forward to ringing in the season and enjoying some Christmas cheer in Petrifying Springs on Nov. 29 and throughout the holidays,” reflecting the county's growing attachment to this festive gathering.
The highlight of the evening arrives at 5 p.m. when Kerkman will lead attendees in a countdown, illuminating the park’s Christmas tree which heralds the commencing celebrations and signals the start of the holiday season for the community, alongside this display, guests can also explore an array of uniquely themed trees, each decorated by various Kenosha County departments, representing a different Christmas movie offering a visual treat and creating a whimsical atmosphere for the attendees to enjoy. The event, free to the public, is located in and around the Biergarten on the Petrifying Springs Park's south end, accessible via the Highway JR entrance, inviting residents to come along, partake, and revel in the approaching yuletide merriment, as mentioned on the same news.
