Las Vegas residents can expect unusual weather conditions today and Friday, with light to moderate rain, isolated thunderstorms, and mountain snow above 6,000 feet. Drivers should watch for snow on roads in the mountains, including State Routes 156–158, 168 to Aspendell, and Westgard Pass.

The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory to include areas such as the eastern Sierra Slopes, White Mountains, and Sheep Range due to these conditions. While the forecast carries "low confidence in rainfall totals for the valleys of southern Nevada," there's a possibility Las Vegas could see up to a quarter of an inch, making it a scenario that could go either way, wet or dry. So, if you're out and about in Inyo and San Bernardino counties this afternoon and evening, be prepared for the worst of the rainfall and potential flash flooding "beneath heavy rain and thunderstorms that develop," which will likely favor the higher terrains.

After the coming rain, the weekend will feel more normal, with temperatures returning to typical levels. A high-pressure system will keep things mostly dry heading into Thanksgiving, though some afternoons may get a bit windy, especially near the Colorado River Valley.

Early in the day, skies will be mostly clear, but clouds will increase later. At Harry Reid Airport, light showers are possible after early Friday morning, with clouds lowering to around 3,500–4,000 feet and light NE/E winds. Visibility may drop at times, so travelers should check for possible delays. Other parts of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona, and southeast California will also see increasing clouds and may experience similar travel impacts.

The National Weather Service is asking local spotters to report any notable weather. Community reports help them track changing conditions. With the weather in the area, staying informed and prepared is important.
