Las Vegas residents may see less dramatic weather than first expected. The National Weather Service has updated its forecast, saying a weaker system is expected to move in late this weekend. According to the National Weather Service Area Forecast Discussion, “Late-weekend system is trending weaker, with only a modest temperature drop and wind increase expected.”

Initially expected to bring more dramatic weather, the low-pressure system's trajectory has shifted west and south, bypassing the Las Vegas area and heading toward the southeastern Pacific Ocean instead. Locals can anticipate a slight 4 to 6 degrees drop in temperature from Sunday into Monday, coupled with an uptick in northerly winds, 25-35 mph in the Colorado River Valley. The National Weather Service states: "This system will drop temperatures by 4 to 6 degrees between Sunday and Monday and will increase northerly afternoon breezes (10-20 mph areawide, with 25-35 mph in the Colorado River Valley) Monday afternoon."

Midweek forecasts are uncertain as another system moves through the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert. It’s unclear whether it will bring precipitation, though current models suggest drier conditions with 20–30% PoPs and negligible accumulations. Gusty north winds are also possible as the system progresses.

Aviation forecasts are stable for Harry Reid International Airport, with VFR conditions and winds below 8 knots. The National Weather Service reports, “Winds will remain under 8 knots, tending to favor typical daily directional trends with occasional periods of light and variable winds.” High clouds above 20,000 feet are expected.

Community spotters for the National Weather Service have been advised to stay vigilant. Although significant weather has not occurred as expected, the Spotter Information Statement urges them to report any noteworthy conditions following standard procedures.
