Residents of Lorain County have been cautioned to brace for biting cold as the local Sheriff's Office has activated its Extreme Weather Protocol in response to plummeting temperatures. According to a social media post from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, the advisory remains in effect for both Monday, November 10th, and Tuesday, November 11th, with 'real-feel' conditions expected to dip below freezing at 32°F.
The Sheriff's Office urges the community to actively check in on their elderly neighbors, friends, and family members, recognizing the enhanced risk the cold poses to the more vulnerable populations. In an effort to ensure no resident is left to weather the cold alone, they've put out a call to action for people to seek and offer assistance. Those in need of shelter can contact Coordinated Entry at (440) 242-0455, which has been designated as the singular access point for shelter services in the county.
Furthermore, the Lorain County Sheriff's Office has provided additional resources for those who may find themselves in precarious situations due to the weather. The United Way is available for assistance and can be reached at 211 or by calling (800) 275-6106.
