Law enforcement in Metro Detroit made significant strides in the fight against illegal drugs last Thursday, seizing a large haul of narcotics, cash, and weaponry from a drug trafficking operation. According to an announcement by the County of Macomb Enforcement Team, as reported by ClickOnDetroit, the operation netted more than 1,000 prescription pills, an assortment of liquid codeine vials, and over 7 pounds of marijuana.
Adding to the arsenal of illegal contraband, authorities pulled in two stolen guns, a ghost gun, and 10 other firearms. Along with the weaponry, over $20,000 in cash and three vehicles were confiscated by police, who have confirmed that multiple individuals are now in custody and face pending charges.
The investigation involved coordination with the Macomb County Enforcement Team (COMET) executing multiple search warrants within Wayne County. Stretching beyond just traditional street drugs, the seizure detailed by the MSP Second District on social media also included 300 suboxone strips and material wealth like a diamond necklace and a Rolex watch, all ripe for forfeiture.

Funded by a grant from the Department of Justice, the drug bust showcased collaboration among multiple agencies—a concerted effort that included assistance from the Michigan Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET), the Michigan State Police Second District Headquarters, and the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Reflecting on the operation, COMET was bolstered by federal support, with Byrne JAG #2022-MU-BX-0011 playing a crucial role in enabling this coordinated takedown of drug traffickers.
