Maryland State Police recently charged a Prince George's County man in connection with the 2024 road rage murder of 20-year-old Nyah Hairston. According to their announcement, Dominec Proctor, 28, faces first-degree murder charges. Currently held without bond in Virginia on unrelated charges, Proctor's connection to Hairston's death was the result of an extensive investigation involving multiple agencies, including the FBI Baltimore Field Office's Cross Border Violent Crime Task Force, and the Metropolitan Police Department.
On the fateful evening of May 3, 2024, Hairston was discovered unresponsive inside her vehicle, which had veered off the southbound lanes of I-495. Police were forced to shatter the window to rescue her. However, all efforts to revive her proved futile as she was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Capital Region Trauma Center.
The breakthrough in the case came from detailed investigative work, ultimately leading to Proctor's identification as the suspect. In a statement obtained by Maryland State Police's official news release, Proctor is currently awaiting trial for the charge.
