
An incident in the Watts neighborhood of South LA led to Los Angeles police fatally shooting a man on Tuesday. According to CBS Los Angeles, the unfortunate event unfolded around noon, after authorities received reports of a man swinging a metal chain at pedestrians and vehicles, considered an assault with a deadly weapon.
LAPD officers arrived at the intersection of Kalmia Street and 103rd Street and found the individual in question. Authorities assert that the man was given commands to surrender, which he did not heed. A post by the Los Angeles Police Department PIO on X states that officers initially employed 40mm beanbag rounds in an attempt to subdue him, but these proved ineffective. "The suspect continued to advance on the officers and an officer involved shooting occurred," said the LAPD post.
