A man was killed in a crash involving an Amazon 18-wheeler and a sedan in South Harris County. The collision happened just before 11 p.m. on Friday on the feeder road off Highway 288 at the South Beltway. Deputies said the truck ran a red light and struck the sedan, according to Click2Houston

Investigators reported that the driver of the sedan, a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, resulting in his death at the scene. The Amazon truck driver said he entered the intersection on a yellow light, but dashcam footage from the truck showed otherwise, as reported by ABC13

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash involving a line-haul truck driven by an independent third-party contractor for Amazon. "According to the driver of the commercial motor vehicle, he stated that he had the yellow light. Further investigation once we reviewed the dash camera of the commercial motor vehicle, we later found that he had the red light the whole time. He never had the yellow light," said Deputy Investigator Chacon, as per Click2Houston. There was no indication that the driver was intoxicated, and no charges have been announced. An Amazon spokesperson, Steve Kelly, said, "Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones of all those involved in this tragedy. We’ll cooperate with law enforcement as they investigate further."
