Manhattan marks the start of the holiday season as the Rockefeller Center receives its annual Christmas tree, a Norway Spruce. The tree, which was sourced from East Greenbush, New York, located about 150 miles from Midtown, arrived yesterday morning, according to ABC7 New York.
The 75-foot tree, standing prominently above the plaza, was donated by Judy Ross. The tree represents a family tradition and marks its first display at Rockefeller Center this year. The 11-ton tree was unloaded from its 100-foot-long trailer and installed at Rockefeller Center in preparation for the holiday season, as per NY1.
Ahead of the December 3 lighting ceremony, decorators will place over 50,000 multicolored LED lights on approximately five miles of wiring and top the tree with a 9-foot, 900-pound Swarovski star containing 3 million crystals.
