A local spa in Northeast Ohio has been raided due to suspicions of operating a sex-for-pay scheme. The Dragon Spa, located at 5975 Andrews Road in Mentor-on-the-Lake, was targeted by local law enforcement on grounds of alleged illicit activity, according to an announcement by Attorney General Dave Yost and Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno. The operation led to the confiscation of business and financial records, along with thousands in cash.
The raid was conducted by the Northeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, a unit organized under the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, as well as officers from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. "No licensed, reputable massage business offers sexual services in exchange for money," Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost stated. The authorities are seemingly determined to actively pursue combating such suspected operations.
Workers at The Dragon Spa were identified during the raid and have been offered social services as part of law enforcement's broader effort in the fight against human trafficking. The raid extended to a second location in the area, which was a private residence, although details surrounding this search have not been fully disclosed.
According to a statement Lake County Chief Deputy Robert Izzo gave to the Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office, "If even one victim of human trafficking can be identified and helped, the operation is a success and worth the effort." Multiple enforcement agencies are collaborating closely in order to identify and provide aid to the individuals who have been victimized by these illegal practices.
The investigation into The Dragon Spa and its activities is ongoing, and the public has been requested to share potentially relevant information by contacting the task force tip line. The raid at The Dragon Spa follows a series of similar law enforcement actions in the region, demonstrating a concerted effort to crack down on human trafficking and related offenses. The task force, which includes a wide array of local, state, and federal agencies, aims to ensure that such establishments are held accountable for their actions.
