Pleading no contest to charges of reckless operation of a vessel and culpable negligence inflicting injury, Michaels received a 60-day jail sentence and one year of probation, as reported in August.
Contacted for additional details, the representatives for the parade remained unsure about the exact fate of this year's festivities. A post on the event's Facebook page, detailed by WESH, hinted at a likelihood that the parade would move forward "in some capacity." This sentiment offered a glimmer of hope amid the otherwise uncertain future for the community tradition.
