U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan was reportedly the target of a bomb threat at her family farmhouse in Holly, though law enforcement found no immediate danger, and she was not present at the time. The threat came shortly after former President Donald Trump accused Slotkin and other Democrats of "seditious behavior" and suggested they should be arrested, as reported by CBS News Detroit.
Trump's comments, including the post stating "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!", appeared to escalate tensions against Slotkin, a former CIA officer. Slotkin's office praised the swift response of Oakland County and Michigan State Police in securing the property, noting concern over Trump's call that they be "possibly put to death," as mentioned by ABC12.
Authorities are investigating a bomb threat against Senator Elissa Slotkin. She has faced similar threats before, including a false emergency report in August 2024, and now has around-the-clock police protection. Slotkin told The Detroit News she has received "hundreds and hundreds, if not … closer to 1,000 threats." The threat came after she appeared in a video with other Democratic lawmakers urging the military and intelligence community to uphold the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Capitol Police are continuing to investigate and provide security for Slotkin and her colleagues.
