Set against the backdrop of a national conversation on immigration enforcement and community impacts, Milwaukee residents are preparing for a rally calling for the immediate departure of ICE from their city. Organized by Alderwoman Larresa Taylor, the "ICE OUT OF MILWAUKEE" Rally & Picket is slated for tomorrow from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at 11900 W. Lake Park Dr. The event aims to provide a platform for peaceful protest and unite community members in support of immigrants facing daily challenges, according to the City of Milwaukee release.
"I hope residents will take this opportunity to come together, make their voices heard, and stand in support of our neighbors and community members who face challenges every day," Taylor stated in an advisory. Her call to action urges the public to partake in civic participation, cultivating a sense of solidarity and recommitting to justice and equality within the city. The rally, according to a city advisory, is also a chance for residents to connect with fellow Milwaukeeans dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all.
Saturday's gathering is not a standalone effort but rather part of a broader movement, drawing support from multiple organizations known for their advocacy work. Endorsements for the event come from PSL Milwaukee (Socialism & Liberation Party), Comité Sin Fronteras, and Voces de la Frontera, each with a storied history of activism in issues pertinent to social justice and immigrant rights. These sponsorships underscore the collaborative nature of the rally and highlight the intersection of diverse community groups rallying behind a common cause.
