Tremonte Kirk, a 17-year-old from Milwaukee, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a series of sexual assaults, including the brutal attack on a 54-year-old woman in an elevator last December. WISN reported that during the sentencing, Judge David Borowski described Kirk's actions as "monstrous conduct" and went on to question how he could imagine successfully eluding capture while wearing a GPS monitoring device during the commission of the crimes.
According to court testimonies, Kirk has a history of criminal behavior that began when he was 12 years old, suggesting a deeply troubling pattern. In an emotional statement obtained by FOX6, one of Kirk's victims, Charlotte Nozar, expressed that nothing could restore her life to how it was before the attack. This sentence also includes 20 years of extended supervision following his prison term, acknowledging the gravity and the repeated nature of his offenses.
Kirk's criminal record was highlighted during the court proceedings as particularly severe. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that this is not Kirk's first brush with the law, having faced charges similar to those he was being sentenced for at least two other times in juvenile court.
In a moment of reflection during the sentencing, Kirk apologized for his actions, saying, "I am sorry what I did to you. During the last few months, I have spent time trying to imagine how my crimes impacted your lives, and I can barely comprehend it. The best words I can use to describe my conduct would, are evil and selfish," as detailed by WISN. However, his remorse did not seem to carry weight for his victims, with Nozar revealing she was unable to accept his apology or offer forgiveness for the irrevocable harm caused. Kirk, now held accountable for his actions, will not see freedom until well into middle age, a time to possibly reflect on the irrevocable impact of his 'monstrous conduct' on the lives of those he assaulted.
