The drop in roadway tragedies is a welcome relief for a County that has seen too many of its residents harmed in vehicular incidents. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, in a statement obtained by Montgomery County, mourned the loss of community members, including two students in recent months, and acknowledged the State Highway Agency's rapid response to state road issues. Elrich also highlighted the impact of a $15 million safety project on New Hampshire Avenue and a substantial $50 million initiative in Montgomery Hills along Georgia Avenue.
Moreover, the annual report documented a slightly less dramatic yet noteworthy 5% overall reduction in serious and fatal crashes in Montgomery County when juxtaposed with pre-pandemic rates.
