Harford County has seen its share of peculiar crimes, and the latest indictment is no exception. Juan Yahir Quiroz Manzueta, from New York, has been charged with several serious crimes, including Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Hit and Run causing serious bodily injury, following an incident involving stolen cooking oil and a harrowing police chase. According to WMAR2-News, yesterday, the Harford County Grand Jury indicted Manzueta after he was extradited to Maryland.
Back in August 2025, the erratic driving of a Penske rental truck led to a dramatic scene on Maryland Route 136, where several cars were hit, and Harford County Lt. Robert Burgess was struck by the said truck when he attempted to stop it. Burgess was seriously injured in the incident but fortunately survived after being flown to Shock Trauma, as reported by FOX Baltimore. The truck was later found to contain stolen cooking oil linked to a burglary at an Aberdeen Applebee's restaurant.
Following the chase and Burgess's injury, authorities launched a manhunt for the truck driver who had managed to flee the scene on foot. The breakthrough came when Manzueta was located and extradited from New York to face the charges in Harford County. The list of charges presented to Manzueta by the Grand Jury is extensive and highlights the gravity of the offenses he is alleged to have committed.
Currently, Manzueta is being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center, pending his trial.
