New Yorkers can expect a string of sunny days accompanied by occasional gusty winds as reported by the National Weather Service. Manhattan will see sunny skies today with highs near 60 degrees, and similar conditions are projected for Brooklyn, as detailed forecasts indicate temperatures hovering at the 60-degree mark under sunny conditions. However, gusts could reach as high as 33 mph in Manhattan, slightly lower in Brooklyn with gusts up to 31 mph.
The borough of Queens is expecting a nearly identical weather pattern, with today's highs also near 59 degrees and northwest winds reaching 18 mph. The Bronx, with a slightly cooler high of 58 degrees, and Staten Island, peaking at 60 degrees, will also experience brisk winds throughout the day.
As the week progresses, temperatures will fluctuate slightly with lows in the 40s and highs in the low 60s for all five boroughs. Rain is likely by Friday night, with a 70 percent chance of showers and continuing over the weekend. Looking ahead to the start of next week, the forecast suggests a return to mostly sunny conditions with highs dipping down to the upper 40s.
While the general weather outlook appears benign, coastal areas are cautioned about potential gale force wind gusts. The Hazardous Weather Outlook issued today by the National Weather Service highlights gale force wind gusts possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Residents near the shore and mariners should note the gale warning currently in effect and forecasts predict gusts could continue to affect the area into the later part of the week.
