Authorities in northwest Harris County responded yesterday afternoon after two petroleum tanks caught fire, producing smoke. The fire was contained within a few hours. The call came in around 2:40 p.m., reporting a fire at the 12600 block of Warrenwood Drive, according to CW39. Firefighters spent approximately two hours extinguishing the blaze. Residents reported hearing an explosion before the fire, and two children were seen leaving the area near the flames.
The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office reported that the two juveniles needed to be identified. One of the individuals was seen at a nearby retention pond, splashing water on their face, which could indicate a need for medical attention, as reported by ABC13.
Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff's Office and fire officials contained the fire at the petroleum storage tanks, which extract natural gas from the ground, by 4:20 p.m. Authorities reported that the smoke from the site did not pose a health risk, and no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire and is also focused on the welfare of the two children seen near the area during the incident.
