Two Orlando men have faced the swift hand of the law after reportedly pushing the limits of speed on Walt Disney World property, violating Florida's "Super Speeder" law. According to ClickOrlando, Layton North Browning Jaynes, 32, was caught blazing down Epcot Center Drive in a blue Porsche 911, clocked at a staggering 117 mph in a 50 mph zone on October 1st. Days later, on October 7, Ryan Daniel Schulz, 31, was also apprehended on the same road, this time for piloting his black Yamaha MT-10 motorcycle at an even more astonishing speed of 144 mph.
The arresting officer, who was involved in both traffic stops, utilized a laser device to confirm the troubling speeds that far surpassed the legal limit—these arrests are part of a larger crackdown since the Super Speeder Law took effect on July 1. Despite their blazing escapades, both Jaynes and Schulz have pleaded not guilty to the charges, as they claimed unawareness of the newly implemented law, which can punish first-time offenders with up to 30 days in jail and a hefty $500 fine, as reported by WDW News Today.
Both defendants had additional charges; Jaynes with an expired tag and an outdated driver’s license address, and Schulz with only the latter. Attorneys for the pair have either withheld comment or not responded to inquiries concerning the arrests.
