Yesterday, a vehicle burglary in Petaluma led to the arrest of a local man, identified as Manuel Arrenguin, 38. According to the Petaluma Police Department, at approximately 1:01 AM, officers responded to a call from a private security company that had observed an individual forcibly entering a car at Plaza North.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found Arrenguin actively involved in removing items from the vehicle. Following his arrest for burglary, he disclosed to the police that he had hidden cocaine in his shoe, an admission that led to an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance.
With vehicle burglaries frequently being labeled as crimes of chance, the authorities are urging residents to take preventive measures, such as locking their cars and keeping valuables out of sight. Moreover, the Petaluma Police have started a Community Camera Program, which encourages local businesses and residents to register their security cameras to assist in solving and even preventing future crimes.
