A human skull found in Wayne has set off a police investigation after a survey crew stumbled upon the remains in a wooded area, according to ClickOnDetroit. The discovery, made yesterday near Michigan Avenue and Newburgh Road, is believed to be related to adult skeletal remains found in the same vicinity back in March.
Wayne Police Deputy Chief Finley Carter III reported that the skull was discovered by the survey crew at around 2 p.m., ClickOnDetroit details the location as northwest of the intersection adjacent to the woodlands, while the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to identify the remains, investigators believe there is a strong likelihood they are connected to the earlier find which included remains without a skull.
As noted by FOX 2 Detroit, the skull was located across from a Ford plant, which adds an element of intrigue to the case. Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Carolyn Isaac explained the process ahead, stating, "Once we have an idea of the biological profile - who does this match up with any missing persons reports then we will get information from a potential missing person do they have x-rays of their head or CT scan or detail x-rays then we will try and compare them point by point."
In their ongoing investigation, authorities have not yet provided details on how or when the individual may have died. This uncertainty leaves more questions than answers, as the forensic inquiries continue. According to Audacy, the investigation following the March discovery remains open, and the police have yet to release any further information. The recent and earlier findings paint a somber narrative of undiscovered tales within the woodlands of Wayne, one yet to be fully unraveled by law enforcement and medical examiners.
