Marsh Creek Park is set to host a new urban agriculture initiative as Raleigh City Farm partners with the City of Raleigh. The project will dedicate 1.5 acres of park space to community gardens and cultivation areas, aiming to enhance food education, expand access to fresh produce, and engage local residents in hands-on farming activities.
The urban farm at Marsh Creek Park will feature a central growing area and a teaching garden, designed to function as outdoor classrooms for community learning. Existing park features, including raised beds, pollinator gardens, and edible landscapes, will complement the project. Additional facilities will include an outdoor prep and teaching area, a pay-what-you-can farmstand, and a refrigerated truck to distribute fresh produce to local programs like Meals on Wheels.
Raleigh City Farm, a nonprofit established in 2011, will manage the new site using its experience in regenerative agriculture. The organization’s mission focuses on connecting and nourishing the community through sustainable farming practices. City and park officials anticipate that the partnership will help address food insecurity, strengthen the local food system, and provide educational and hands-on programming in the park.
The “Gather and Grow: Urban Farm Open House” is set for March 19, 2026, at Marsh Creek Park, according to the City of Raleigh. The event offers attendees the opportunity to tour the site and meet staff from both Raleigh City Farm and the City of Raleigh.
