The City of Reno is inviting residents to share their views on whether nonprofits should be required to register, a shift that could change the city’s current exemption for not-for-profit organizations. Feedback can be provided through an online survey available in English and Spanish, according to the City of Reno.

Three virtual workshops will also cover the proposal, scheduled for November 17 at 6 p.m., November 18 at 12 p.m., and November 20 at 9 a.m. Participants can register through the City of Reno’s website, where recordings will be posted after each session.

The City of Reno is reviewing whether nonprofits should be required to register, citing concerns about zoning and safety reviews. Information gathered at the upcoming City Council session, along with public input, will help guide possible changes to registration rules and related costs. “Our nonprofits are so important to our community, and I encourage them to attend these meetings to share their perspectives and help shape any potential regulations,” Schieve said. “When we come together and collaborate, we can build a more successful Reno.”
