A masked gunman in tactical-style gear stormed the main cashier’s cage at the Rampart Casino near Summerlin Parkway last Thursday night, pointing what police described as an AR-style rifle and demanding cash before bolting back through the property’s parking garage, according to Metro. The robber was gone before officers arrived, and although the heist rattled the off-Strip property, no injuries were reported.

Metro detectives later released surveillance images of the suspect, who appeared to be an unknown-race male wearing a ballistic helmet, blue sunglasses, a black facemask and a blue-and-yellow jacket, as they canvassed the casino and surrounding streets for clues.

Police release details and images

In a post via LVMPD, Metro said the robbery unfolded at about 10:29 p.m. on November 13 in the 200 block of North Rampart Boulevard. Investigators said the suspect entered the casino through the parking garage, headed for the main cage and produced an AR-style rifle before demanding money from an employee.

According to LVMPD, the employee complied, and the suspect left the property the same way he came in, disappearing back into the parking garage. Detectives shared still images of the heavily disguised suspect and asked anyone who recognizes the gear or the person beneath it to contact investigators.

Metro's search and response

Officers quickly saturated the area and called in a helicopter to help lock down a perimeter as detectives pulled surveillance footage and went door to door at nearby businesses, as reported by KTNV. Metro told reporters that the person responsible may have slipped away before officers got on scene, and robbery detectives continued to process the casino and garage for evidence.

How investigators are asking the public to help

Metro’s Robbery Section is asking anyone with information to call detectives at 702-828-3591 or email [email protected], according to the department’s post. The public can also send anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or through CrimeStoppersOfNV.com.

Investigators said that tips, cell phone video or dashcam footage from casino patrons and people in nearby businesses or neighborhoods could be critical in identifying the gunman. Anyone who recognizes the suspect’s clothing, helmet or overall build from the released photos is urged to contact detectives immediately.

Context: Off-Strip cage robberies

The Rampart has previously appeared in patterns of off-Strip casino-cage heists that rely on disguises and fast exits, according to local reporting. The Las Vegas Review-Journal has documented earlier casino-cage robberies and arrests that highlight how tough these cases can be to crack without help from the public.

Security experts say casino employees are often trained to comply during robberies to avoid escalating the situation, which can mean the suspect is in and out in minutes. That puts even more pressure on surveillance cameras and public cooperation to fill in the gaps after the fact.

Detectives are asking anyone who was at the Rampart Casino or in its parking garage the night of Nov. 13 to check any available footage and contact Metro’s Robbery Section with potential leads. The investigation remains active, and Metro said it plans to release additional information as detectives develop the case.
