Two new San Antonio police officers were fired after separate off-duty drunken incidents this month that briefly put both of them in police custody. One officer is now facing a misdemeanor family-violence charge, and the other was taken to a detox center after causing a disturbance at a downtown bar — even posing for a middle-finger photo that spread around the department, as reported by KSAT.
What the records show
Department and incident reports show Officer Cora Crocker was taken into custody on Nov. 2 after officers responded to an assault call in the parking lot of an indoor go‑kart venue off Loop 1604. A witness told police Crocker struck a man in the face. The report describes her as "visibly intoxicated." She was charged with assault causing bodily injury‑family, terminated on Nov. 3, and is scheduled for arraignment on Dec. 2 in County Court 13, according to reporting by KSAT.
In a separate incident, Officer Giselle Lopez‑Chavez was detained after a disturbance inside a downtown bar in the 800 block of N. Alamo Street. She was taken to the city’s detox facility on N. Frio, where a photo of her outside the building, flipping off the camera, later circulated among rank‑and‑file officers, according to KSAT. Both terminations followed an internal review of incident reports and personnel records tied to the off‑duty encounters.
Crocker’s attorney, Ben Sifuentes, told KSAT, "we will defend her vigorously." The reporting also notes Crocker is the ninth San Antonio Police Department officer arrested so far in 2025, underscoring how crowded the department’s disciplinary docket has become.
Broader pattern
The two firings land in the middle of a larger run of San Antonio Police Department personnel problems this year, ranging from DWI arrests to on‑duty misconduct that has led to suspensions. Earlier coverage by the San Antonio Express-News detailed the DWI arrest of a veteran officer whose blood‑alcohol level tested far above the legal limit, a case that highlighted ongoing discipline issues inside the department.
Crocker’s criminal case will proceed through county court, starting with her Dec. 2 arraignment. Any additional San Antonio Police Department or city human resources actions will move along a separate administrative track. For now, both officers are off the force while the criminal and internal processes play out. This story will be updated as new court filings and personnel records become available.
