The Sacramento Kings have finally snapped their eight-game losing streak with a hard-fought victory over the Denver Nuggets, finishing at 128-123. The Saturday night matchup saw the Kings showing resilience, coming from behind to claim the win.
Russell Westbrook, former Nugget, was pivotal in the victory, putting up 21 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds for his team – swinging momentum in the fourth quarter where he netted 15 points, as reported by CBS News Sacramento. Keegan Murray, back in action after offseason surgery, contributed 19 points in what was only his second game of the season, according to KCRA.
Denver's Nikola Jokic tried to thwart Sacramento's efforts with an impressive 44 points, but ultimately his one-man show wasn't enough to overpower the collective efforts of the Kings. Dennis Schroder also leveled up for the Kings, providing 21 points and seven assists off the bench to fuel the much-needed win.
Despite Denver holding a 79-66 lead during the third, the Kings clawed back into contention and broke away in the fourth quarter with a crucial 10-point surge. Schroder and DeMar DeRozan, who racked up a total 17 points, steered the Kings through, with DeRozan hitting a three-point play in the dying seconds to seal the deal, as per CBS News Sacramento.
Moving forward, the win lifts the Kings spirits as they prepare to host the Minnesota Timberwolves. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are set to play the Memphis Grizzlies next. Both teams are now turning their focus to these upcoming encounters, hoping to build on, or bounce back from, the events of Saturday night.
