A 31-year-old man with a criminal history was taken into custody in a stolen truck after a pursuit involving Seattle police and helicopter tracking, authorities reported. The chase began when a patrol unit equipped with an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) identified the vehicle as stolen near the intersection of Meridian Avenue North and North Northgate Way.
Following the initial discovery on Tuesday at approximately 2:00 PM, an attempt to conduct a traffic stop resulted in a high-speed chase. "The vehicle eluded recklessly, driving away at high speed in a crowded residential area," the Seattle Police Department detailed in a report. The helicopter from King County's Sheriff's Office, known as Guardian One, provided aerial assistance, enabling ground units to track the truck's movements.
The vehicle passenger opted to flee on foot during the pursuit but was subsequently apprehended with direction from Guardian One's crew. He was later released following an investigation. The suspect continued to evade authorities by driving to a Ballard Goodwill parking lot, where he hurried inside the store and changed clothes in further attempts at elusion.
Upon his capture, police found significant evidence pointing to criminal activities, as reported by the Seattle Police Department. They recovered 25.9 grams of Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia from the suspect's person. The stolen Ford F-150 was found to contain burglary tools and a lock pick kit. The vehicle was impounded following the recovery.
The arrest was made inside the Goodwill with cooperation from store security. Details from the police included charges against the suspect: Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Eluding a Police Vehicle, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics. The multi-convicted felon, already under Department of Corrections supervision for robbery, was booked into the King County Jail, violating the terms prohibiting criminal activity set forth by his release conditions.
