What started as a quiet narcotics probe in Seguin has ended with 21 people in custody, as local police say they have wrapped up a months-long effort to disrupt suspected drug trafficking networks across Guadalupe County. Seguin Police Department announced Monday that "Operation Low Key" led to multiple felony arrests tied to the suspected sale and distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and illicit THC products in Seguin and nearby communities. Authorities are calling the sweep a major hit against local trafficking activity, as reported by KENS5.
According to KENS5, the investigation stretched over several months and zeroed in on alleged distributors of THC products along with meth, marijuana and cocaine. The station’s report includes video of Seguin Police walking through the scope of the operation and the arrests.
Arrests, Charges And Where Police Moved In
Local coverage by Seguin Today reports that Operation Low Key resulted in 21 felony arrests and 31 felony charges. Investigators pursued suspects not only in Seguin, but also in New Braunfels and other parts of Guadalupe County, according to the outlet.
Seguin Today notes that authorities have not yet released full charging documents or the names of everyone arrested, leaving some details of the operation still under wraps while the cases move forward.
Legal Penalties And What Suspects Could Face
Delivery of controlled substances, or possession with intent to deliver, is a felony offense in Texas. Penalties depend on the type and amount of drug involved, with substances like methamphetamine and cocaine falling into specific penalty groups that carry increasingly severe sentences as quantities rise.
The state outlines those penalty groups and ranges of punishment in the Texas Controlled Substances Act, which governs how drug crimes are classified and sentenced across the state.
Ongoing Investigation And Community Response
Seguin police say the investigation is still active, and that more arrests or charges could be on the way as detectives continue reviewing evidence and working with prosecutors. Community members with information have been urged to contact the Seguin Police Department.
The department did not immediately provide additional comment, according to KENS5. As with all criminal cases, the individuals arrested are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
