
A fatal accident occurred yesterday morning on State Highway 123 South when a Seguin police officer, traveling to work, struck a woman. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Cindy Wiatrek, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 6 a.m., according to FOX San Antonio.
The officer, driving a department-issued vehicle, immediately reported the incident to the Seguin Police Department. Following the crash, the department placed the officer on administrative leave, a standard procedure in such cases, while an investigation is conducted. Seguin police stated in a news release that they are working in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety on the investigation, KSAT reported.
Details about the circumstances of the crash remain limited. No information has been released regarding possible contributing factors, such as road conditions, or whether any charges are pending against the officer.
