Public transit riders in the Philadelphia area may soon experience an upgrade in their daily commute. SEPTA has announced the impending arrival of the new Wissahickon Transit Center, poised to revamp bus service for thousands of passengers. According to a social media post from the transportation authority, the state-of-the-art facility will cater to 11 bus routes and is prepped for Direct Bus Phase B service integration.
The modernized transit hub promises a spectrum of amenities designed for commuter comfort and convenience. "New customer amenities include weather-protected waiting areas, benches, bicycle racks, and separate ADA-compliant boarding and alighting areas for each bus route," SEPTA shared.
The Wissahickon Transit Center upgrades focus on both comfort and safety. The site now has brighter lights, clearer signs, security cameras, and a supervisor’s booth to help keep riders safe. The exact opening date hasn’t been shared yet, but SEPTA says the new center will open soon.
