
The collision occurred during a standard emergency response on San Antonio's South Side Wednesday afternoon. The crash involved a police cruiser and a civilian vehicle, resulting in injuries to two officers who were transported to the hospital. Both vehicles were pushed off the roadway following the impact.
Police reported that the collision occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of W. Hutchins Place and Commercial Avenue. Officers were responding code to an assault-in-progress call in the 900 block of W. Formosa Boulevard when the crash took place.
Authorities confirmed that the patrol unit and a civilian vehicle collided in the intersection. The 46-year-old driver of the civilian car sustained minor injuries but declined hospital transport and received treatment at the scene.
According to KENS 5, SAPD stated that both officers were transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation after the patrol car’s airbags deployed. The collision pushed both vehicles off the road and into a nearby private parking lot.
Authorities told KENS 5 that the officers were responding “code” to the assault-in-progress call at the time of the crash.
As per MySA, the civilian driver told investigators he entered the intersection on a green light when the patrol unit collided with his vehicle. He sustained minor injuries but declined transport to a hospital.
Crash Scene And Vehicle Damage
KENS 5 reported that after the initial crash in the intersection, the patrol car continued into a nearby parking area and struck an electrical box, pushing both vehicles further into the private lot.
The patrol unit’s airbags deployed during the collision, leading both officers to be evaluated at a local hospital. Investigators stayed on site to document the positions of the vehicles and assess damage to the cars and surrounding property.

The San Antonio Police Department stated that the crash remains under active investigation, and a complete account of the events leading to the collision has not yet been released.
