Milwaukee residents seeking a closer dialogue with county officials have something to look forward to, as Supervisor Deanna Alexander has unveiled a trio of community events aimed at increasing engagement around the 2026 County budget and fostering neighborhood camaraderie. The series kicks off with a Listen & Learn session at Evangel Assembly of God Church, where attendees can query representatives about the newly adopted budget and county services, including public safety initiatives and the Sheriff’s Office recruitment efforts, according to Milwaukee County's release.
The second event is a Community Walk along the Little Menomonee River Parkway, offering residents a chance to enjoy the outdoors while engaging with their local supervisor. Despite the absence of available on-site restrooms, hot coffee will be served at this gathering, intended to celebrate the recent improvements to the parkway. Supervisor Alexander emphasized the events as a way, "These events are an opportunity for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and engage directly with county
staff and public safety partners," recognizing the significance of bringing such discussions into the neighborhoods to enhance government transparency and responsiveness.
Following a stroll amidst nature, the week’s events will conclude with a second Listen & Learn session housed within the community room of the Good Hope Library. This offers another opportunity for public participation and discourse on Milwaukee’s fiscal plans and the services that will shape the upcoming year. Residents are encouraged to take an active role by arriving with inquiries and a willingness to partake in constructive dialogue about their community's trajectory.
Supervisor Alexander will host a series of sessions and a community walk in Milwaukee to engage residents with local governance. The events are designed to provide opportunities for direct interaction with county leaders and are open to all interested citizens, according to the same press release.
