Two arrests have been made in connection with a carjacking yesterday in the Dyker Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, while one suspect remains at large. A 37-year-old man was assaulted and had his 2014 Toyota Sienna stolen. According to ABC7 New York, three individuals allegedly attacked the man by punching and kicking him before taking his vehicle.
The incident began around midnight when the victim was reportedly approached by the suspects. The suspects then took his wallet and phone and forced the victim back into the car before driving away. News 12 Brooklyn reports that it obtained exclusive footage showing the vehicle driving onto a sidewalk during a police pursuit.
Police initially received reports of shots fired at 11th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway, but it was later determined that no shots had been fired. The suspects’ high-speed escape ended in a crash on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near Exit 18, where two of them were taken into custody. The third suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown as the search continues.
Following the incident, the victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention after being located in a residence on 84th Street. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect still at large to come forward. The investigation is ongoing as efforts continue to locate and apprehend the remaining suspect.
