U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility seized more than 130 pounds of methamphetamine valued at over $1 million.
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the discovery occurred on Thursday last week when officers inspected a Ford box truck arriving from Mexico. After a nonintrusive scan, a physical search revealed 30 packages of methamphetamine hidden inside the vehicle, weighing a total of 137.78 pounds.
CBP Port Director Carlos Rodriguez commended his team for their efforts in stopping the smuggling attempt. The drugs and vehicle were seized, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents took the driver into custody to begin a criminal investigation.
