Recent reports show ongoing concerns about intersection safety in Michigan, with several locations in Macomb County noted. Michigan Auto Law, using data from the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reporting Unit, found that Van Dyke Ave and 11 Mile Rd in Warren, as well as Van Dyke Ave and 18-and-a-half Mile Rd in Sterling Heights, are among the state’s most hazardous intersections. According to Audacy, the Warren intersection recorded 185 crashes, and the Sterling Heights intersection recorded 162 crashes.
Authorities say the reports aim to reduce crashes by helping drivers know which intersections require extra caution. “The goal of this report isn't to alarm drivers, but to help them stay informed and safe,” Steve Gursten, President and Attorney at Michigan Auto Law, told FOX 2 Detroit. The reports list intersections with higher crash numbers and the factors connected to those incidents to support safer driving decisions.
WXYZ released information on the intersections with the most crashes in several Michigan counties. In Monroe County, the intersection of I-275 and Telegraph had 40 crashes, and in Oakland County, Martin Parkway and Pontiac Trail had 151 crashes. Intersections near freeways and shopping areas accounted for many incidents, and five roundabouts were also included in the list of the 20 locations with the highest crash numbers.
