Over the past weekend, Pierce County experienced a series of incidents, including a stabbing at a group adult home, an arrest for reckless burning, and the theft of an excavator and trailer. According to a Pierce County Sheriff's Department blog post, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on November 7th, deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 600 block of 165th St. S. They found a 28-year-old male victim stabbed with a screwdriver while sleeping. He was transported to the hospital with the expectation of recovery. The suspect, a 22-year-old male, was detained nearby and later booked for first-degree assault.
In a separate incident on Sunday around 8:00 p.m., residents reported a woman setting fires in the neighborhood of 119th St. S and 8th Ave. Ct. S. Deputies apprehended a 33-year-old female after observing her flee into a backyard, armed with a lighter and an M-80-type explosive. The woman, who had reportedly been lighting objects on fire and tossing them into people's yards, was identified by the victims and charged with two counts of reckless burning in the second degree, as per the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
Finally, deputies are investigating the theft of an excavator and trailer in the Puyallup area, which occurred on November 7th. The theft took place around 7:00 a.m. at the 11100 block of 66th Ave. E. "Deputies obtained surveillance video showing two suspects arriving in a truck and using bolt cutters to open the fence," as noted in the Sheriff's Department blog. The suspects were seen hooking up the trailer, which already had the excavator loaded, and then driving away. Authorities are seeking tips from the public, which could lead to a $1,000 reward if the information results in an arrest and charges. The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is urging anyone who recognizes the truck or suspects to reach out with an anonymous tip to the Crime Stoppers line, emphasizing the potential for a financial incentive.
