
A tragic event has shaken the community of northeast Columbus, where a woman lost her life in a harrowing hit-skip incident. On Tuesday evening of November 18, as reported by NBC4i, an unidentified woman was crossing Cleveland Avenue when she was struck by a red pickup truck and dragged for nearly 300 feet. The driver, rather than stopping to assist or report the incident, fled the scene northbound on Cleveland Avenue.
Occurring near Oakland Park Avenue intersection in North Linden, the incident was noted at 6:53 p.m., as detailed by the Columbus police. Dragged outside of a marked crosswalk area, the victim tragically succumbed to her injuries, later pronounced dead at 7:32 p.m. at an area hospital. The Columbus Dispatch echoed the details of the accident and further conveyed the efforts of paramedics who rushed her to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in a critical condition.
The Columbus Division of Police, who are investigating this tragic episode, are currently on the hunt for the driver at large. Information about the crash, coming from the Accident Investigation Unit, has spurred a community-wide appeal for witnesses to step forward.
