
After eight years, a cold case has been solved with the arrest of a suspect in the 2017 killing of Pedro Aguilar in north Harris County. Brian Adams, 25, was arrested and charged with capital murder, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators reopened the case after finding a DNA match in the CODIS national database, according to ABC13.
Adams was apprehended by a collaboration of law enforcement agencies including the sheriff's office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, Gulf Coast Violent Offenders, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Office of Inspector General, and the Texas Department of Public Safety, he is now booked at the Harris County Jail with his bond status unknown Sheriff Gonzalez credited HCSO Homicide Sergeant J. Brown and his team, along with all assisting parties, for the resolution of this long-standing mystery, as reported by KHOU.
On March 11, 2017, Aguilar and his daughter were confronted by two men near their apartment complex, and Aguilar was shot and killed. The suspects were unable to steal their stick-shift vehicle. The case had no leads until recently, when Adams was identified through DNA, though it is unclear why his DNA was not processed earlier. Aguilar's son said, "My baby is everything. I want the best for you," as mentioned by ABC13.
