A Bucks County man accused of sexually assaulting three young girls has been extradited from El Salvador to the United States, according to officials. Noel Angel Yanes, 45, was arrested on January 8, after he fled the country when charges were filed against him in February 2024, NBC Philadelphia reported.
Yanes is facing a litany of charges including seven counts each of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent assault, he was also charged with two additional counts of unlawful contact with a minor and indecent assault, and corruption of minors, District Attorney Jennifer Schorn announced the list of charges and detailed the extradition process involving the Warminster Township Police Department, the Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force which culminated in Yanes's return on Wednesday; the investigation was sparked by reports made to the Warminster Police suggesting that Yanes had repeatedly sexually assaulted these girls with one claiming the abuse began when she was as young as 5 and persisted until she reached 11, Patch outlined.
Upon his capture in El Salvador, the U.S. Marshals heralded the apprehension on social media, stating that Yanes, originally from the Central American country, was promptly extradited back to Pennsylvania to stand trial for his alleged crimes; Yanes's arrest was coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service out of Philadelphia, which touted their efforts in locating and securing the suspect abroad, FOX 29 confirmed.
“The capture and return of Noel Angel Yanes is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by all agencies involved. To those who commit crimes against the most vulnerable and believe they can evade accountability by fleeing across borders, this should serve as a clear message: you will be found, apprehended, and brought back to face the consequences of your actions," District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said in a news release, NBC Philadelphia reflected.
Following his extradition, Yanes was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Maggie Snow and is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility, with his bail set at $500,000 bail with the stipulation of 10 percent needed to be posted for release, an amount reflecting the gravity of the charges he is facing and the effort put forth to ensure justice for the alleged victims.
