Chip Kelly is returning to college football as Northwestern’s new offensive coordinator. The Wildcats have struggled offensively, with "The Wildcats ranked No. 96 in the country in both total offense and scoring offense this season," as per CBS Sports.
Northwestern has hired Kelly, who "He also spent the 2024 season as offensive coordinator at Ohio State, helping lead the Buckeyes to a national title," to improve its offense, as reported by News3LV. With the transfer portal opening on January 2, 2026, his arrival may help bring in players suited to his fast-paced offensive system. Coach Braun, who has a 19-19 record over three seasons with two bowl wins, will work with Kelly to develop the starting quarterback and the overall offense. "Kelly's fit at Northwestern," is considered important for the team’s performance, as stated by CBS Sports.
