Child care businesses in Colorado are getting a leg up with a new initiative aimed at bolstering their operations at every business stage. Announced by the Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC), the program dubbed "Essential Business Skills for Child Care Administrators" began rolling out its services designed to support caretakers and educators statewide.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis emphasized the importance of child care in an economy's health, stating, "Childcare is essential to strengthening our workforce and economy while supporting families." He added that he's eager "to see the impact of this work in our communities," according to the Colorado Governor's Office. Further substantiating this initiative's benefits was OEDIT Executive Director Eve Lieberman, who noted, "By providing childcare providers with no-cost training and advising, we can help them take steps to start and grow their businesses while ensuring more families have access to quality childcare," as per the Colorado Governor's Office.

The program offers child care professionals from various backgrounds, including those just entering the field and established administrators, a suite of resources without the price tag. This includes on-demand modules on general business, financial management, and marketing, as well as private advising sessions with Colorado SBDC advisors, and supplemental business tools and training resources.
