The Harry Stone Recreation & Aquatics Center is seeking bright and vibrant public art to reflect the spirit of nature, community, health, and local history. Artists are encouraged to submit work that evokes emotions from motivation to joy. With a budget of up to $120,000, the call is open until midnight on January 5, 2026. Interested creatives can apply here, according to the project guidelines published on the City of Dallas' official bulletin.
In addition to the open call for artists, the Dallas Mavericks are sponsoring a unique experience for the younger crowd, a Build Your Own Hero Workshop. This event is set to unfold at the South Dallas Cultural Center from 2 to 5 p.m. tomorrow. Kids aged five and up have the chance to quickly craft their own superhero narrative using art and LEGO play. Notable artists such as Leo Hendrix, Maurice Pacius, and Joshua Gordon from BUILT DIFFERENT will guide the creative process. Lunch and a LEGO kit, and a paint kit will be included for participating children.
What's more, attendees will also get to take photos with Santa and meet a real-life superhero, making the event a potentially unforgettable experience. Space is limited, and organizers urge parents to only RSVP for a ticket for their child and complete a Google Form immediately with their child's name and age details.
