
The City of Denison has been officially recognized by Travel Texas, after completing a detailed certification process, as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community, an accolade that points to the city’s commitment to fostering tourism and its potential for spurring economic growth and job creation. According to a statement from Governor Greg Abbott's office, this designation is expected to bring more visitors to Denison, contributing to Texas's already substantial tourism industry which reportedly supports 1.3 million jobs and nearly $200 billion in economic impact annually.
“Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies,” Governor Abbott said, as per the Office of the Texas Governor. His encouragement for other Texas communities to seek this certification suggests an envision where local tourism and jobs across the state burgeon. Denison now proudly carries multiple accolades, being not only certified as Tourism Friendly, but also as Film and Music Friendly.
