The National Weather Service in Denver issued an update this morning, bringing attention to the significant changes in local weather conditions expected over the coming days. According to the forecast, Denver is currently experiencing partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 45°F, accompanied by south winds breezing at 13 mph. However, the weather is predicted to shift substantially, with a high probability of snowfall starting tonight and continuing into Sunday.
Residents can anticipate "a slight chance of rain before 8 pm, then a chance of rain and snow between 8 pm and 11 pm, then snow likely after 11 pm," the National Weather Service detailed. With humidity at 39% and the barometer reading 29.73 in, Denverites should prepare for, a drop in temperature to a low around 21°F tonight, and the likelihood of snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches. The forecast for Sunday includes more snow, especially before 8 am, paired with a cloudy morning and a high near 34°F. This flurry of activity could bring about an additional inch of fresh snow.
Looking beyond the weekend's wintry mix, the weather is set to clear with mostly sunny skies heading into the new week. Denverites can expect a sunny Monday, with the mercury rising to 43°F. The area will continue enjoying mostly clear nights and sunny days, with Tuesday and Wednesday bringing highs near 50°F and 56°F, respectively.
An earlier hazardous weather outlook issued on Friday warned of "elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions" in parts of Colorado. The lookout was prompted by a combination of mild, dry, and breezy circumstances that could see gusts reaching up to 60 mph in the Front Range mountains and foothills. Additionally, the upcoming snow system is expected to "bring moderate snow to the Front Range mountains and heavy snow to the Park and Gore Range mountains early Saturday morning through Sunday morning." With the drop in temperatures and the anticipated snow, travel may be notably impacted on Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service's forecast, along with the hazardous weather outlook, underscores the significance of staying aware of changing weather conditions, especially when planning travel or outdoor activities. Denver residents should keep close tabs on the latest weather updates and prepare for a cold and potentially snowy conclusion to the weekend.
