Denver residents can look ahead to a changing skyline, with cloud cover increasing as New Year’s Day approaches, according to the National Weather Service. Today's mostly sunny weather, boasting a high near 63 degrees, is set to give way to more clouds and slightly lower temperatures in the coming days. A light breeze from the south southwest will carry into the night, bringing a low of around 35 degrees.
The NWS detailed forecast indicates a streak of mostly cloudy days, with New Year's Day seeing highs hovering around 59. While the nighttime temperatures will dip, they're staying put just above freezing, offering a small respite from the winter chill. Moving through the week, Denverites can expect partly sunny skies, leading to a mostly sunny weekend with highs consistently near the low 60s.
While the city itself faces no immediate weather hazards, those venturing into the mountains should stay alert. The NWS hazardous weather outlook suggests light mountain snow is on the horizon, starting Thursday night and into Friday. This will predominantly affect the Park Range and could result in minor impacts.
The National Weather Service also notes that no spotter activation is necessary at this time, signaling a relatively calm weather pattern for the region. Denver's residents and visitors alike should, therefore, enjoy their holiday festivities without significant meteorological interruptions as we usher in the new year.
